All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The following incidents occurred on Saturday, January 11, 2020:
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 5:58 a.m., Deputies responded to the N2500 block of CTH S in the Town of Sylvester for a report of a two vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Nathan R. Parris, 21, Machesney Park, IL, was traveling southbound when he lost control of his vehicle due to the ice covered road surface. Parris’ vehicle then rear-ended a southbound vehicle that was being driven by Raymond H. Wilde, 43, Brodhead, WI. Parris reported that he was not injured and that he was wearing his seatbelt. Wilde and his passenger both reported that they were not injured and that both were wearing their seatbelts. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and the airbags did not deploy. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 11:54 a.m., Deputies responded to the N1600 block of CTH G in the Town of Spring Grove for a report of a single motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Roger C. Green, 71, Brodhead, WI, was traveling northbound on CTH G when he reported that he moved his vehicle off the roadway to allow farm equipment to get by. Green then drove back onto the roadway and his vehicle lost traction due to the ice covered road surface. The vehicle then entered the east ditch. Green reported that he was not injured and that he was wearing his seatbelt. The vehicle sustained moderate front end damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was driven from the scene.
The Brodhead Police Department assisted at the scene.
Milk Truck Unit Crash – Life Threatening Injury:
At approximately 2:06 p.m., Deputies, Green County EMS, and the Monroe Fire Department, responded to the N4600 block of CTH J in the Town of Monroe for a report of a milk truck unit rollover crash. Investigation revealed that the unit was traveling southbound when the driver lost control of the unit due to the ice covered road surface. At the time of the crash, the driver was negotiating a curve in the roadway and traveling down a hill. Upon the unit losing control, the unit spun around, crossed the centerline, and then exited the roadway. The unit then entered the east ditch, where it collided with an embankment. The unit then overturned, causing the tank to separate from the truck. The tank came to a rest upside down in the east ditch. The truck continued to overturn and came to a rest on its tires in the roadway.
The driver, and sole occupant, was ejected during the crash. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver was initially transported by EMS to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room. The driver was later transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison for life threatening injuries.
The truck and the tank both sustained disabling damage. The airbags did not deploy in the truck. The tank was full of milk, which leaked out after the crash. The truck and the tank were both later towed from the scene.
The name of the driver is not being released at this time.
The Monroe Police Department and Wardens from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources assisted Deputies at the scene.
The Green County Highway Department assisted at the scene with traffic control.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 2:59 p.m., Deputies responded to the N7600 block of CTH E in the Town of Brooklyn for a report of a two vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Kenneth L. Day, 47, Albany, WI, was traveling southbound when his vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the northbound lane. At this time, Day’s vehicle sideswiped a northbound vehicle that was being driven by Michael J. Marean, 49, Albany, WI. Day and his passenger both reported that they were not injured and that they were wearing their seatbelts. Day’s vehicle sustained minor damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was driven from the scene. Marean sustained a minor injury and he reported that he was wearing his seatbelt. Marean’s vehicle sustained minor damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was driven from the scene.
Day was cited for Inattentive Driving.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 6:43 p.m., Deputies responded to the W1100 block of Elmer Rd in the Town of Brooklyn for a report of a single vehicle rollover crash. Investigation revealed that Johnathan T. Sutherland, 26, Albany, WI, was traveling westbound when he lost control of the vehicle due to the ice/snow covered road surface. The vehicle then exited the roadway and entered the south ditch. The vehicle then rolled over and came to a rest on its side. Sutherland reported that he was not injured and that he was wearing his seatbelt. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
