Lyle Truman Hamilton, age 75, of Monroe, passed away at Monroe Clinic Hospital on Monday, February 24, 2020. Lyle was the youngest of seven children and was the only sibling born in a hospital on July 17, 1944 in Beloit, WI. As a teenager, Lyle worked at Terry’s Market in Beloit with his future mother-in-law, Mary Hackett. The love of his life, Patricia, was just a stone’s throw away. The two became high school sweethearts and eventually tied the knot on August 21, 1965.
Lyle graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1963 and from Mercy Hospital Radiology School in 1965. He began his career at Mercy, moving to Monroe a year later to work at the Monroe Clinic and raise his family. He retired from the clinic with over 30 years of service. He and Pat also managed the Gasthaus Motel until his health forced him to retire. He was an active member of St. Victor Catholic Church where he ushered and served with the Knights of Columbus Monroe Council #1471(Past Grand Knight). He also volunteered with the Apostolate To The Handicapped (board member) and Monroe Main Street.
Lyle and Patricia had three children, Tracy (Pam ”Frauch”) Hamilton, Veronica (James) Bruce, and Mary Hamilton, all of Monroe. Lyle was proud of his family and found great enjoyment in watching his grandchildren play sports and music. He always loved going to the movies with McKenzie Bruce, Kyle (Jenny Thompson) Bruce, Ian (Paula Campbell) Hamilton, Connor Hamilton, and a special grandson, Brady Mader. Lyle’s eyes lit up for his first greatgrandchild, Blakely Ann Bruce. He is further survived by two brothers, Sherman (JoAnn) of Hancock, WI, Harry of Beloit; and sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Sandra Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verne and Trumane Hamilton; a sister, Donna Hamilton; and brothers, Carl, Ron, and Larry Hamilton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke, Celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery followed by a luncheon at St. Victor’s Nilles Hall. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, February 28, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, is assisting the family. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
Lyle was only 8% Irish, but the twinkle in his eye and classic attire made him the Celtic Crawl’s favorite Leprechaun. He will always be remembered for his beaming smile, friendly wave, and kind words. The lives of his friends, family, and all who encountered him were made better by Lyle.
