Marsha K. Griffin, age 77 of Monroe, died Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Monroe Health Services. Marsha was born on August 24, 1942 in Angola, Indiana, the daughter of Robert and Glenola (Oberlin) Sams. She graduated from Angola High School in 1960 and married David E. Griffin on April 30, 1960. After moving to Monroe in 1967 Marsha began working as a secretary at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School until retiring after over 30 years of employment. Marsha enjoyed traveling and especially loved relaxing and fishing with her husband at their summer home on Lake Wisconsin.
She is survived by her son, Greg (Joanna) Griffin of Monroe; her daughter, Robin (Jason) Schuetz of Darlington; five grandchildren, Jason (Holly) Griffin, Justin (Jessica) Griffin, Eryn DeVoe, Alyssa (Chase) Rau, and Joshua Schuetz; three great grandchildren, Lukas, Lexis, and Linkin Rau; her sister, Glenda (John) Faurote of Ft. Wayne, IN; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Griffin of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, David, on October 24, 2015.
A Celebration of Life for Marsha will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020, at 12:00 p.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at Monroe Engraving, 1005 30th Street. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, February 21, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Marsha’s name.
