Mavis A. Robertson, age 82, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2020, at Azura Memory Care surrounded by her family. Mavis was born on March 19, 1937, in rural Argyle to Bjarne and Millie (Vinger) Bredeson. She graduated from Argyle High School in 1955 and married Burnette “Bernie” Robertson on November 10, 1956, at the Yellowstone Lutheran Church in Argyle. Mavis was employed at St. Clare Hospital, South Bighorn Hospital in Basin, WY, and served as the Green County Treasurer until her retirement. She actively volunteered for Grace Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway Ostestaden Lodge, Women of the Moose #599, and the Behring Senior Center. Mavis loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, cooking, reading, and dancing at Turner Hall.
She is survived by five children, Bernie C. (Barbara) Robertson of Monroe, Janeen (Tim) Schutte of Leesburg, VA, Wes (Bobbie Jo) Robertson of Monroe, Annette (Jeff) Voegeli of Monroe, and Kathy (Jeff) Margolis of Houston, TX; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Berneice (James) Benz of Rockford, IL and brother, Robert (Mary Ann) Bredeson of Beloit, WI; sisters-in-law, Betty, Judy, Hope, and Virginia Bredeson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernie L., on February 3, 2002; five brothers, Vernus, Bernard, Martin, Jerome, and Gerald Bredeson; and two sisters, Irene Bredeson and Marie Mason.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe.
