On March 22, 2020 Governor Tony Evers issued Emergency Order#11. This emergency order will temporarily suspend certain provisions in Wisconsin relating to service rules for electric, natural gas, and water public utilities. How will this affect you as a resident of Monroe?
Quarterly water public utility bills are being mailed to residents this week and will be dated due April 20th.
Following these orders, the City of Monroe will:
- Waive late fees for public utilities
- Temporarily suspend disconnections, other than those needed for safety reasons
- Ensure that deferred payment agreements are available not only to residential customers but also commercial, and industrial customers.
The City of Monroe encourages residents to pay their water bills online during the coronavirus pandemic. If you’re unable to pay online we recommend mailing your payment to the City Treasurer’s office or taking advantage of our payment dropbox. There is a dropbox next to the north door of the City Hall building and a drive-up dropbox by the Post Office Mailboxes. The city payment box is white and marked for city payments, no postage is required on envelopes deposited into this dropbox.
