All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The following incidents occurred on Wednesday, March 11, 2020:
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 12:43 p.m., Deputies and the Monroe Fire Department, responded to the W2600 block of Bethel Rd in the Town of Clarno for a report of a vehicle versus power pole crash. Investigation revealed that Chad A. Rucinski, 41, Monroe, WI, was traveling westbound when he reported that he reached over towards the front passenger seat area to grab an item out of a bag. At this time, Rucinski lost control of the vehicle, which exited the roadway and collided with a power pole. The collision caused the power lines and the power pole to be damaged. The collision also caused the power pole to catch on fire.
Rucinksi reported that he was not injured and that he was wearing his seatbelt. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. Rucinksi was cited for Inattentive Driving and was released pending a court appearance.
The Monroe Police Department assisted Deputies at the scene.
The Town of Clarno assisted at the scene with traffic control. The roadway was closed for several hours while Alliant Energy made repairs to the power pole and power lines. There was a power outage in the area as a result of the crash.
Warrant Arrest:
At approximately 1:14 p.m., Deputies arrested Bryce S. Whiting, 24, Fitchburg, WI, at the Green County Justice Center, located at 2841 6th St in the City of Monroe. Whiting was arrested on a warrant issued for his arrest by the Green County Child Support Office. Whiting was incarcerated in the Green County Jail.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 3:03 p.m., Deputies, Green County EMS, the Monroe Fire Department, and the Juda Fire Department, responded to the intersection of STH 11 and Richland Rd in the Town of Jefferson for a report of a two vehicle crash with injuries. Investigation revealed that Carissa K. Hamilton, 28, Albany, WI, was traveling north on Richland Rd approaching STH 11. Hamilton then attempted to turn westbound onto STH 11. At this time, Hamilton’s vehicle collided with a vehicle that was traveling westbound on STH 11, which was being operated by Tamara J. Hahn, 54, Brodhead, WI.
Hahn reported that she was wearing her seatbelt. Hahn sustained a non-life threatening injury and was transported to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room by EMS. Hahn’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Hamilton reported that she was wearing her seatbelt and that she was not injured. Hamilton’s vehicle sustained functional damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was later driven from the scene by a valid driver. Hamilton was cited for Operating while Suspended, Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, Failure to Obey a Traffic Sign, and Failure to Yield the Right of Way from a Stop Sign. Hamilton was released pending a court appearance.
