Frances P. Hagen, age 91, of South Wayne, died on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Lafayette Co. Manor in Darlington. She was born on August 5, 1928 in Shullsburg, the daughter of Thomas and Catharine (Hardy) Cavanaugh. She attended Shullsburg Schools. Frances and Richard Hagen were united in marriage on August 5, 1946 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Shullsburg. Frances was a bookkeeper for Hofer Miner prior to starting her family.
France’s biggest job was helping her husband on the farm and being a loving mother to 10 children. She enjoyed playing cards and writing poetry. She was also known for her buns and cinnamon rolls.
She is survived by her children: Jack Hagen, Ed (Ginger) Hagen, Jerry Hagen, all of South Wayne; Fred (Kathleen) Hagen of Winslow; Ruthie (Doug) Fenn of Warren; Susie (David) Aurand of South Wayne; Jimmy (Tara) Hagen of Woodford; Angie (Scott) Butler of South Wayne; 28 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren plus 3 on the way; and sister Bridgid Ubersox of Shullsburg.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Richard; sons Tom Hagen and Dickie Hagen; sisters Mary Kay Wachter and Josephine Coulthard; a brother and sister in infancy, and granddaughter Heidi.
A PRIVATE FAMILY Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gratiot with Fr. Joji Reddy as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Gratiot.
NO VISITATION WILL BE HELD due to the new regulations ordered by the state.
Due to current health concerns there will be no luncheon.
