All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The following incidents occurred on Sunday, April 19, 2020:
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 11:26 a.m., Deputies were notified of a vehicle versus tree crash that had occurred on 04/18/20 at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the N8000 block of Smith Rd in the Town of Brooklyn. Investigation revealed that Robert L. Paynter, 33, Brooklyn, WI, was traveling southbound when he advised that he checked his cellphone after receiving a notification, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle then exited the roadway and entered the west ditch. The vehicle then came back onto the roadway and then entered the east ditch, where the vehicle collided with a large tree. The vehicle then came to a rest.
Paynter reported that he was wearing his seatbelt and that he was not injured. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and the airbags deployed. The vehicle was left on scene.
Paynter was cited for Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of a Motor Vehicle Crash and for Inattentive Driving.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 8:07 p.m., Deputies responded to the N6300 block of Schneeberger Rd in the Town of Mt Pleasant for a report of a vehicle versus power pole crash. Investigation revealed that Annemae R. Doyle, 29, Monroe, WI, was traveling southbound when she reported that she swerved to miss a deer that was in the roadway. The vehicle the exited the roadway and collided with a power pole, causing damage to the power pole and power lines. Doyle reported that she was not injured and that she was wearing her seatbelt. The vehicle sustained damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Doyle will be cited for Failure to Keep Vehicle under Control.
Alliant Energy responded to the scene to make repairs to the power pole and power lines.
