Motor Vehicle Crash (Updated News Release):
On Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at approximately 5:39 a.m., Deputies responded to the 1400 block of 2nd St in the Village of New Glarus for a report of damaged mailboxes. Upon Deputies arrival, it was determined that a motor vehicle crash had occurred and the offending vehicle fled the scene. It was discovered that a southbound vehicle left the roadway and entered the west shoulder. The vehicle then struck a culvert and went over an embankment. The vehicle then collided with five mailboxes. The vehicle then drove back onto the roadway and fled the scene.
The Green County Sheriff’s Office and the New Glarus Police Department conducted an investigation, which resulted in the driver of the vehicle being identified as Keontrai G. Hodges, 18, New Glarus, WI. Investigation determined that Hodges was not injured in the crash and that he was wearing his seatbelt. The vehicle sustained functional damage and the airbags did not deploy. A passenger in the vehicle was reported to be not injured and that they were wearing their seatbelt.
Hodges was cited by Deputies for Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of a Motor Vehicle Crash and for Failure to Keep Vehicle under Control.
