All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The following incidents occurred on Wednesday, June 10, 2020:
Motor Vehicle Crash / OWI Arrest:
At approximately 12:39 a.m., Deputies, Monticello Fire, and Monroe EMS responded to the N7100 block of CTH N in the Town of Washington for a report of a single vehicle crash with injuries. Investigation revealed that Cherie L. Lafave Hughes, 57, Monroe, WI, was traveling northbound when she failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle then exited the roadway and entered the east ditch. The vehicle then collided with a culvert and became airborne. The vehicle then overturned and came to a rest on its roof. Lafave Hughes was extricated from the vehicle by Deputies. Lafave Hughes reported that she was wearing her seatbelt. Lafave Hughes sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported via ambulance to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room. Lafave Hughes was later transported via ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Investigation resulted in Lafave Hughes being cited for Operate While under the Influence (alcohol) 1st Offense and for Failure to Keep Vehicle under Control. Lafave Hughes was released pending a mandatory court appearance.
OWI Arrest:
At approximately 2:01 a.m., Deputies responded to the W6900 block of Franklin Rd in the Town of Clarno for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. Investigation resulted in Donavan Taylor, 45, Belmont, WI, being arrested for Operate While under the Influence (alcohol) 3rd Offense. Taylor was incarcerated in the Green County Jail and was later released after the posting of bond.
Domestic Abuse Arrest:
At approximately 4:17 p.m., Deputies responded to a residence in the N2400 block of Van Matre Ln in the Town of Clarno for a report of a disturbance. Investigation resulted in Mark A. Elmer, 44, Browntown, WI, being arrested for Intimidation of a Victim – Domestic Abuse related. A Probation Hold was placed on Elmer by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Elmer was incarcerated in the Green County Jail pending an initial court appearance.
Warrant Arrest:
At approximately 7:03 p.m., Marcus J. Phiffer, 24, Monroe, WI, turned himself in at the Green County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant issued for his arrest by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Phiffer was incarcerated in the Green County Jail.
