The following incidents occurred on Sunday, June 28, 2020:
ACCIDENT-INJURY:
At approximately 6:58 AM, Deputies responded to the W1700 block of Decatur Albany Road, Town of Albany, for a motorcycle crash with ejection. Albany Fire Department and Albany EMS also responded to the scene.
Investigation revealed CODY L. CALKINS, 24, of Albany, was operating a motorcycle westbound on Albany Decatur Road, when the motorcycle entered the ditch line. The motorcycle struck a culvert and then the embankment, where it came to rest. CALKINS was ejected from the motorcycle. The motorcycle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. CALKINS was not wearing a helmet or any eye protection. CALKINS was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, as a result of injuries sustained in this crash. CALKINS was cited for Operating while Revoked (Criminal), Operating a Motorcycle without Endorsement, Operating without Insurance, Fail to Maintain Control, and Insufficient Tire Tread Depth. CALKINS was released pending court.
ACCIDENT-FATAL
At approximately 3:35 PM, Deputies responded to the intersection of County Highway S and State Highway 11, in the Town of Jefferson, for a two vehicle crash. Green County EMS and the Juda Fire Department also responded.
Investigation revealed, a 39 year old Freeport, Illinois man, was eastbound on State Highway 11, when a northbound vehicle failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign. The northbound vehicle was operated by an 82 year old Davis, Illinois man. The northbound vehicle proceeded into the intersection, where it collided with the eastbound vehicle. The occupants of both vehicles sustained injures and all occupants appeared to be wearing seatbelts. A passenger in the northbound vehicle was later pronounced deceased, at the UW Hospital in Madison. Both vehicles sustained severe damage and airbag deployment. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. This case remains under investigation.
ACCIDENT-HIT AND RUN
At approximately 11:32 PM, Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover crash, in the N500 block County Highway M, Town of Cadiz. It was reported that the occupants walked away from the scene. Green County EMS and Browntown First Response also responded to the scene.
Investigation revealed a vehicle was northbound on County Highway M, when it crossed left of center and exited the roadway, to the left. The vehicle then collided with an embankment and rolled over. The vehicle came to rest on its roof, in the northwest ditch. The vehicle sustained severe overall damage and no airbag deployment. Occupant seatbelt usage and injuries are unknown at this time. The vehicle was towed from the scene. This case remains under investigation.
