All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The following incidents occurred on Wednesday, July 15, 2020:
Motor Vehicle Crash / OWI Arrest:
At approximately 1:30 p.m., the Green County Sheriff’s Office received a large quantity of 911 calls regarding a vehicle with damage traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes in the W5200 block of STH 11 in the Town of Monroe.
At approximately 1:38 p.m., Deputies located the vehicle traveling southbound in the N400 block of CTH S (south of Juda, WI). Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as Craig A. Stamm, 65, Evansville, WI.
Investigation revealed that Stamm was involved in several motor vehicle crashes in the Town of Monroe and drove the vehicle from the crash scenes. Deputies discovered that Stamm had entered a construction zone where thru traffic is allowed on STH 59 at CTH DR. Upon entering the construction zone on STH 59, Stamm’s vehicle collided with multiple traffic barricades. Stamm’s vehicle then entered the closed portion of the construction zone where thru traffic is not allowed and collided with more traffic barricades. Stamm’s vehicle then collided with a concrete slab. Stamm then drove the vehicle eastbound on the closed westbound off ramp from STH 11 to STH 59. Stamm continued driving the vehicle eastbound on the closed westbound off ramp towards STH 11. Stamm then drove the vehicle onto STH 11 past the construction zone and into oncoming traffic.
Stamm continued driving the vehicle eastbound in the westbound lanes of STH 11. Stamm then turned south onto CTH S and was then located by Deputies. The vehicle sustained damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was later towed from the scene of the traffic stop. Stamm was not injured in the crashes. Investigation resulted in Stamm being arrested for Operate While under the Influence (alcohol) – 1st Offense. Stamm was cited for Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of an Accident, Hit and Run to Property Adjacent to a Highway, Operating the Wrong Way on a Four Lane Highway, Operating on a Closed Roadway, and for Failure to Carry a Concealed Weapon License on Person.
The Brodhead Police Department and the Monroe Police Department assisted Deputies with searching for the vehicle. Brodhead Police and Monroe Police also assisted Deputies at the scene of the traffic stop.
Bail Jumping:
At approximately 4:16 p.m., Deputies responded to a residence in the 100 block of E Old Highway Rd in the Town of Cadiz for a report of Bail Jumping. Investigation resulted in Randall E. Halvorson, 66, Browntown, WI, being arrested for two counts of Felony Bail Jumping. Halvorson was incarcerated in the Green County Jail pending an initial court appearance.
