All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The following incidents occurred on Thursday, January 14, 2021:
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 3:26 p.m., Deputies responded to the W1500 block of STH 11 in the Town of Spring Grove for a report of a two vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Robert T. Alexander, 32, Monroe, WI, was traveling eastbound when he began to slow down as a vehicle traveling in front of him was attempting to turn into a driveway. At this time, a vehicle traveling eastbound behind Alexander’s vehicle collided with the back of his vehicle. The second vehicle was found to be driven by Alexis L. Smith-Burkhalter, 18, Brodhead, WI.
Alexander and his passenger both reported that they were not injured and that neither were injured. Alexander’s vehicle sustained damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was driven from the scene.
Smith-Burkhalter reported that she was not injured and that she was wearing her seatbelt. Smith-Burkhalter’s vehicle sustained damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Smith-Burkhalter was cited for Following Too Closely.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 5:00 p.m., Deputies responded to the N2300 block of Spring St in the Town of Jefferson for a report of a two vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Michael D. Brown, 71, Evansville, WI, was performing a backing maneuver when his vehicle collided with an unoccupied parked ehicle. Brown reported that he was not injured and that he was wearing his seatbelt. Brown’s vehicle did not sustain any damage and was driven from the scene. The parked vehicle sustained damage and remained on scene.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 7:31 p.m., Deputies responded to the intersection of CTH S and Greenbush Rd in the Town of Sylvester for a report of a single vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Gregory J. Stewart, 58, Brodhead, WI, was traveling northbound on CTH S when he attempted to turn east onto Greenbush Rd. Stewart’s vehicle then exited the roadway and collided with a Stop Sign. The vehicle then entered the ditch and collided with an embankment. Stewart reported that he was not injured and that he was wearing his seatbelt. The vehicle sustained damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
