In 2018 the City of Monroe contracted with Pellitteri Waste Systems to manage all curbside garbage and recycling services. Residents have not experienced an increase in their quarterly garbage billing since 2013, as the City used reserve funds from the sanitation fund to absorb any annual rate increases and fuel surcharges. In order to cover current expenses, Common Council approved increasing the quarterly cost for curbside garbage collection by $5.00. This increase is necessary to reduce the existing deficiency in the present rates. Utility bills for the third quarter of 2023 will reflect the increased costs as follows: 35 Gallon Cart: $27.50 / Quarter 65 Gallon Cart: $30.50 / Quarter 95 Gallon Cart: $33.50 / Quarter. The City does not charge residents for recycling fees. If you would like more than one recycling cart, please get in touch with Pellitteri for an additional cart and delivery fee. Next year the City of Monroe will go out for RFP (Request for Proposal) as the City’s current contract with Pellitteri is set to expire in August of 2025.
