Motor Vehicle Crash
On October 13, 2023, at 11:54 AM, officers were called to a two-vehicle accident with reported injuries at the intersection of 18th Avenue and 7th Street. An investigation indicated that a vehicle operated by Abraham D. Arizmendi Zamora (30), Monroe, was traveling east on 7th Street, failed to yield the right of way from a yield sign, and collided with a southbound vehicle on 18th Avenue, operated by a 21-year-old Juda woman. The Juda woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by private vehicle to seek medical treatment. Both vehicles sustained moderate damages with one vehicle being towed. Arizmendi Zamora was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a yield sign and operating without motor vehicle insurance. Arizmendi Zamora was released pending a court appearance.

On October 13, 2023, at 2:39 PM, officers were called to a two-vehicle accident with reported injuries in the 700 block of 6th Avenue West. An investigation indicated that a vehicle operated by Mark E. Chapman (65), Lena, IL, exited STH 11 on the eastbound ramp, failed to yield from a stop sign, and collided with a southbound vehicle on 6th Avenue West, operated by Ariel R. Schwartz (31), Monticello. Chapman was transported to the SSM Monroe Hospital by Green County EMS with non-life-threatening injuries. Schwartz also reported non-life-threatening injuries, was checked out at the scene by EMS, but declined transport. Both vehicles sustained disabling damages. Chapman was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, and released pending a court appearance. Schwartz was cited for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, and released pending a court appearance.
OWI
On October 13, 2023, at 7:51 PM, officers conducted a traffic offense stop for a traffic violation in the 900 block of 17th Avenue. The investigation led to the arrest of Yeliks Migdonio Rodriguez Bellorin (27), Monroe, on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-1st offense. Rodriguez Bellorin was also cited for unnecessary acceleration, failure to maintain control of the vehicle, operating the wrong way on a one-way street, and operating without motor vehicle insurance. Rodriguez Bellorin was released to a responsible person pending a court appearance.
