Gov. Tony Evers today delivered the Democratic Radio Address highlighting the start of the 11th annual ‘Open Enrollment’ period and encouraging Wisconsinites to sign up for high-quality, affordable healthcare coverage on HealthCare.gov. Open Enrollment began on November 1, 2023, and will continue through January 15, 2024.
Hey there, folks. Governor Tony Evers, here.
Every Wisconsinite deserves access to quality, affordable healthcare, and whether it’s through BadgerCare or the marketplace, now is the perfect time to explore your options and sign up for health insurance.
Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen a growing number of enrollments in Wisconsin’s Marketplace.
In the last year alone, we saw over 200,000 Wisconsinites select plans through the state marketplace.
In 2020, I partnered with the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and the Department of Health Services to launch WisCovered, a free website aimed at making health insurance accessible for Wisconsin consumers.
By visiting Wiscovered.com, folks can get connected with free expert advice to learn about their health coverage options.
And through funding from the Inflation Reduction Act, 89 percent of Wisconsinites enrolled in a plan through HealthCare.gov saw reduced costs on their premiums last year.
Of those people, the average person saved over $500 on their monthly premiums.
Healthcare shouldn’t be a privilege afforded only to the healthy and wealthy, and we have to do everything we can to make sure it’s accessible to kids and families across our state.
Open Enrollment began November 1st and goes until January 15th so don’t wait.
I encourage folks to explore all the available plans and take advantage of the Open Enrollment period so we can continue building a healthier, stronger state together.
Happy open enrollment, Wisconsin!
Thank you, and take care.
