Lillian J. Tickel, age 91, of Monroe, died Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Lillian was born on June 15, 1928 on the Wyss home farm in Clarno Township, the daughter of Fred and Esther (Block) Roth. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1946 and married Gorham Edward Trickel on June 15, 1952 at the East Clarno United Methodist Church. Lillian worked for United Telephone Company until 1954. She enjoyed playing the organ at the former Unitarian Universalist Church and for many funeral services in the area. Lillian was prolific at knitting, crocheting, and sewing and for a number of years sold her work at a gallery in Golden, Colorado. She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Neal (Linda) Trickel of Monroe; and her daughter, Ann Trickel of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gorham, on June 9, 2009; and a brother, Nathan (Dorothy) Roth.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Don Kim officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a lunch at the church. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Green County EMS or Friends of Pleasant View in Lillian’s name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
