Carol J. Hoffman, age 81 of Monroe, died Friday, January 3, 2020 at Monroe Hospice Home. She was born on February 19, 1938 in Marithon County, WI, the daughter of George and Edna (Schoppenhorst ) Hoffman Sr. She attended Monticello High School. She worked for Armor Cheese Co. for 17 years, then Stoughton composites in Brodhead and later Stoughton Trailers in Edgerton, retiring in 2000. Carol enjoyed collecting many things, stamps and cookbooks to name a few.
She is survived by her partner Ken Gruenberg of 47 years; 5 children: Joseph “Dick” (Joann) Dunlavey Jr., Michael (Martha) Dunlavey of Monroe, Patrick Dunlavey of Monroe, Gary Dunlavey of Brodhead, and Colleen (Scott) Youtzy of Lena, IL; 4 step-children: Patricia (Jim) Schmitz of Kenosha, WI, Teresa Gruenberg, Debra Gruenberg, both of Monroe, and Steve Gruenberg of Oregon, IL; 18 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: George Hoffman Sr. of Sycamore, IL and Ed “Butch” (Loretta) Hoffman of Prescott, AZ; 2 sisters: Grace (Gary) Huffman of Monroe, and Nancy (Ed) Williams of Redmond, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Duane Hoffman; grandson, Derrick Youtzy.
Private services will be held on Wednesday at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home with Chaplin Steve Bullock officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Memorials can be given in Carol’s name to the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home.
