Blake Philip Wand, age 27, of Monroe passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020. He was born on April 20, 1992, the son of Nicholas and Deborah (Kubly) Wand in Monroe. Blake was a 2010 graduate of Black Hawk High School; where he played football and was on the wrestling team; he was also involved in FFA and band.
He also earned his Journeyman Ironworker degree. Blake worked for Kuhn North America of Brodhead for 9 years; he continued his career with Ironworker #383 of Madison for 4 years. In September of 2019 he accepted an offer with Ironworker #625 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Blake enjoyed working on cars and four wheel drive trucks; he also enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, and shooting pool. Blake was a social butterfly; he enjoyed spending time with friends and was always out doing something. He was a charismatic person and could make friends easily. Blake had a big heart and loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephew.
Blake is survived by his parents, Nicholas and Deborah Wand of Lena formerly of South Wayne; sister, Danelle “Dani” (Jon) Curran of Gratiot; brother, Jeremy Wand of Madison; nieces and nephew, Emily, Ryan, and Macy Curran and Haley and Isabelle Wand.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Anthony and Maryon Wand; and maternal grandparents, Robert and Shirley Kubly.
A Celebration of Blake’s Life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
