JAY ROBERT “BOB” ETHRIDGE, age 92 of Monroe, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at the Aster Assisted Living in Monroe. Bob was born September 27, 1928, the son of Cecile and Kathryn (Gavigan) Ethridge. He attended Argyle Schools. Bob and Vivian were united in marriage on July 26, 1958 in Dubuque, Iowa.
Bob was a World War II Veteran and a member of the local Moose Lodge, VFW and American Legion. He retired from The Swiss Colony after many years of managing the company’s cheese slicing operation.
Upon retirement, Bob and Vivian toured the country in their RV. They spent many months in Mesa, Arizona during the winter, enjoying time with their many friends from Monroe. Bob also was the troop leader for the Boy Scouts.
Bob’s greatest joys were his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, lovingly known as “Papa”. He spent many joyful hours with them. Bob had a great sense of humor and loved to tease.
He is survived by his Step-son: Larry (Pat) Schwartz, Grandchildren; Michele (Shelly) Vind, Marci (Tom) Drenzek; great-grandchildren: Mitchell, Ty, and Brady Drenzek, Danielle and Curtis Vind, Elizabeth (Rick) Hengel; sisters, Shirley Elmer, Marjorie Rufer and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by Vivian Ethridge (spouse) and Stephen Schwartz (Step-son).
A PRIVATE FAMILY service will be held on Saturday, March 28th at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe, with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Monroe.
NO VISITATION WILL BE HELD due to the new regulations ordered by the state. Due to current health concerns there will be no luncheon. The family would like to thank Aster Assisted Living for their wonderful care of Bob while at Aster.
